Do you have training on how to sccessfully distribute or market books that have already been self published?

    • John Harricharan says:

Hi Sam, Authors University does have guidance on how to market your book. There are sections that deal with using the mighty tool of the Internet as well as personal methods for promotion and marketing. I have personally used many of those methods with tremendous success.

      Thanks for asking.

      Best wishes,

      John

  2. Michael says:

I have authored two books already “Get Yourself Up” and Four reasons why relationships fail.. and how you can make yours succeed. They are at amazon.com and Barnes and Nobles. I want to see them in every bookstore. How can I make that happen.

    • John Harricharan says:

Michael, I looked at your books in amazon.com and think the covers look great. From the rankings, it appears that there are very few sales. You can improve sales by writing great, moving copy for the product description. Also, get your books on Amazon Kindle. This helps a lot.

Do you have a personal website from which you could promote your books? A mailing list? Getting your books into bookstores may not be the greatest thing since, if the books do not sell well in Amazon and B&N, they may not do well in Bookstores and may be returned to the distributor.

There are many ways to successfully promote your book on the Internet and to bookstores. Then as demand builds, people will start asking for it in more bookstores. Remember, most books sold today are not sold through bookstores.

Use the power of the Internet to get things moving and follow up on every method of promotion.

      Cheers,

      John

  3. Tom Wemett says:

John, what software program, font size, page size, etc. should I use when writing a book?

    • John Harricharan says:

      Hi Tom:

Word Processing software is probably all you need to start. Either Microsoft Word or Apple Pages would do quite well. Page size, font size, type of fonts, etc will depend on what kind of book you are writing. Those could be dealt with during the formatting stage after the manuscript is written.

You have lots of leeway here. My first book was written long hand and then entered into a word processor for formatting.

  4. Vito DeLuca says:

    Hi John…

A friend of mine is close friends with a VP at Random House. He has recommended my book to him and is expecting him to contact me to discuss options. Would you recommend that I use a mainstream publisher if they show interest in publishing me? I know that may sound like a silly question but I’m worried I’ll make a bad deal for myself.

    What do you recommend?

    Thanks,
    Vito

    • John Harricharan says:

No harm in looking at what they have to offer, Vito. Using a mainstream publisher could work out well depending on the deal. You need to look at what they are offering and what they want out of the agreement. I would at least pursue it to see what kind of deal could be made.

By the way, as of this morning, the kindle version of your book on amazon.com is ranking in the top 10% of all books on kindle. In certain categories, you rank #28 and #43. That’s fantastic and is exactly what I tell our authors in AuthorsUniversity.

Let me know how things develop, Vito. You’ve written a fantastic book.

      Best,

      John

  5. Joshua says:

I’m new to the idea of publishing my books, however, I’ve been writing fictonal stories for years, but I’m just not sure if they’re good enough to be worth publishing (I love them, but that’s just my opinion) and also, I’m quite dislexic (or however you spell it) so they would need a fair bit of tlc on my part and probible the part of some English guru. But yeah, and advice from someone who has been in a similar situation would be greatley apricoated! Thanks! Woooh!

    • John Harricharan says:

      Hi Joshua:

I am sure your stories are great. You have to believe that. It’s not very difficult and it’s relatively simple to make your stories into a book and see how it goes. Here in AuthorsUniversity.com, we provide a great deal of help to aspiring authors.

If I were you, Joshua, I’d go for it and publish. Who knows? Your book could become a great success. It also is a matter of how much you believe in what you are doing.

      Cheers,

      John

  6. Mari Ann Feinstein says:

Hi, John. Thanks for giving us this chance to ask questions!

What is going to be included in this written course with Authors University? Is it intended for more experienced writers, or would it be appropriate for authors who are just getting started?

    Thanks again!

    Mari Ann

    • John Harricharan says:

      Hi Mari Ann:

Although Authors University could benefit any author, it is really more for first-time authors and aspiring authors. The information provided takes one by the hand and leads that person on a path to becoming a published author. It actually is done in a very simple manner and it makes it easy to follow.

Thanks for the question, Mari Ann.

      All my best,

      John

  7. German Peirsol says:

Which Print On Demand (POD) services would you recommend? Do you even recommend that an author go that route for publishing?

    • John Harricharan says:

      Hi German:

Thanks for your question. In Authors University, I recommend a number of POD publishers. There are many of them these days, but two of my favorites are LSI (Lightning Source) and Apex Book Manufacturing. There are others such as, Create Space, Lulu, etc., but I’d check out the two I mentioned before any of the others. Many of my authors have used LSI with great results. I especially like LSI because they get your book into Amazon.com and Ingram (one of the largest distributors) within weeks of publishing.

You’ll find lots of info about the process in Authors University.

      Have a great day.

      John

  8. Connie Singleton says:

    Sounds great! Here’s my question:

How does a brand new author get published when none of the big publishers will even give you the time of day? I’ve thought about self-publishing, but I’m not sure of the first step.

    PLEASE HELP! ;)

    • John Harricharan says:

      Hi Connie:

You are right. It is almost impossible to start by trying to find a major publisher. It is absolutely much simpler to self-publish as I have done (even though I had major publishers).

The process of self-publishing is outlined in the Authors University website and course. You will find that I’ve simplified and made practical the various steps to follow. Check out some of the books that first time authors have published using the resources of Authors University at the website: http://www.WriteABestseller.com then check out AuthorsUniv.com

      Best wishes, Connie.

      John
